The Falcon's Nest

We have moved over 1300 miles away from our families and friends and I thought that this might be a great way to keep in touch!

MLK Day at Maple Grove Mazes

The children were out of school for Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. My friend Jen Blackwell and I took our kids up to Maple Grove Mazes, an indoor playground in a community center about 20 miles north of where we live. We packed lunches and ate there, allowing our gross motor function deprived children several hours of non stop motion! We had to leave around 2:oo to get Caleb to gymnastics. It was the first time he's ever been worn out before tumbling class! The kids slept well that night! We're going to take them to the Edinborough Park in Edina the next time they all have the same day off.

Every Woman Should...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

A set of screwdrivers,
a cordless drill, and
a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

One friend who
Always makes her
Laugh...
And one
Who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

A good piece of furniture
not previously owned by
Anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE

Eight matching plates,
Wine glasses with stems,
And a recipe for a meal that will
Make her guests feel honored.

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE...

A feeling of control over Her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

How to fall in love Without losing herself...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

HOW TO QUIT A JOB

BREAK UP WITH A LOVER

AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

When to try harder... and

WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

That she can't change
The length of her calves,
The width of her hips, or
The nature of her parents...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

That her childhood
May not have been Perfect...

but; It's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

What she would and Wouldn't
Do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

How to live alone...
even if She doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

Whom she can trust, Whom she can't,
And why she shouldn't Take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

Where to go..
Be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
Or a charming inn in the woods...
When her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

What she can and can't accomplish
In a day...
A month...
And a year...

Why God Made Moms

Second-graders answer questions about the women in their lives.

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He Just used bigger parts

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats alot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back of her head

Rachel's Wedding

My baby sister, Rachel McInerney, was married at St. Andrews in Apex, NC on January 7, 2006 to a lovely man, Brian Mangum. I flew with my husband, three sons, and cousin from Minneapolis, MN, the Thursday before the wedding. I then attended a Bridesmaids' Luncheon, Rehersal, Rehersal Dinner, Photo Session, Nuptial Mass, Reception, and Post Wedding Breakfast all in less than 48 hours! For me, this involved five different dresses, or "costume changes" as my husband refered to them! We flew back to MN Sunday afternoon and I am just now, almost a week later, getting my voice back! We had a lovely time and I believe that my sister was pleased with how things went. I cannot wait to see the pictures that her photographer took! I apologize in advance that I was not able to take more photos, and for the quality of the ones that I did take, but wrangling three boys in formal attire, and trying to catch up with family took precedence! I hope you enjoy the ones that I did mange to shoot and get a general idea of what was going on!

The star of the show, the main event, the bride to be, Rachel Colleen McInerney, was very snazzy in her black and hot pink capri pant suit with her long tresses all pressed fancy straight and gorgeous! We had a lovely luncheon early Friday to celebrate the bridesmaids, bride and all the other woman who had worked so hard to make this day possible! Rachel stood up and introduced everyone, saying something lovely about each person and what they meant to her. I believe the little girl next to her was the other flower girl. Posted by Picasa

Tara and Delaney enjoy the fruit salad that was our first course at the Bridesmaids' Luncheon. Posted by Picasa

Brian's maternal and paternal grandmothers attended the luncheon and were a delight to meet! They told a very cute story about traveling to China together! Wouldn't it be wonderful if all families were able to mesh that well! I think that we also have been very blessed with how well our families get along together. Posted by Picasa

Rachel Colleen McInerney (#6) and Tara McInerney Stanton (#4 and Mother of Delaney) one looks confused and the other really stiff. I don't know why! Posted by Picasa

Nicole and Tim McInerney. My next youngest sibling and his lovely bride! It was his 35th birthday, so everyone at the rehearsal dinner sang "Happy Birthday" to him and toasted him! I know he would have preferred Lowe's gift cards! Posted by Picasa

Rachel and a very, very tired Delaney. I hope she'll be able to fufill her flower girl duties tomorrow. Is there a runner up to step into her shoes if for any reason she is unable or unwilling to continue in her role as World's Cutest Flower Girl? Posted by Picasa
